Our Family
Dr. David Kells was
born in Oklahoma but moved frequently as his father was in the Air
Force. He began elementary school in England (thus "British
trained"). From fifth grade through medical school, he lived in
Colorado, except for a two year hiatus as a missionary for
Germany. His majors at the University of Colorado (Boulder) were
chemistry and international affairs. After graduating from CU in
3 years, he received his MD from the University of Colorado
(Denver). Dr. Kells' internship and residency were at Maricopa
Medical Center. He then worked with a large multi-specialty group
in Arizona for 14 years prior to establishing Boojum in 1998. Dr.
Kells is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology. He has
been practicing for 27 years. He is chair of the
multidisciplinary Peer Review Committee at Chandler Regional Hospital
and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. His interests include sports,
exercise and weight training, cooking and collecting art. He has
five children aged 22 to 32 and three grandchildren.
Ramona Joseph is one of out our certified nurse-midwives. She grew up in rural North Carolina and is member of the Lumbee
Indian Tribe. She graduated from the UNC at Greensboro in Nursing and UNC-Chapel Hill
with a Masters in Public Health. As an officer in the US Public Health Service,
she was assigned to various Indian reservations across the country including Oklahoma, New Mexico and
California.
Her love has always been caring for pregnant women, especially during the
laboring period. She graduated from the Frontier Nursing Service in Kentucky in 2002 and
became certified as a nurse midwife. Until 2009 she worked with Indian Health
Service in Phoenix
for 18 years, but is loving her practice at Boojum Obstetrics & Gynecology! You can read more about here at www.ramonajoseph.com
Tiffany Jackson has been working as a midwife since 2007. Prior to working
as a midwife, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse and a nursing instructor
here in the Phoenix area and previously in South Carolina.
Tiffany started out with an interest in
obstetrics, but it wasn’t until working on her associate degree in nursing that
she discovered midwifery. She obtained a Bachelor degree in nursing through Clemson University and a Master’s Degree through
Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. Her training in midwifery was
done primarily at Phoenix
Indian Medical
Center (Ramona was one of
her preceptors!)
Her philosophy of care centers on the belief that
women should be equals in the healthcare partnership. Tiffany feels it is her
role to assist and guide women in obtaining the birth experience they desire
most. Childbirth is a special time, and she feels it is a privilege to be part
of that experience.
Tiffany was born in Florida
and has lived in many areas, including South Carolina,
Washington, North Carolina,
Pennsylvania and New York. She is an only child. She has been
married for 16 years and has three children, ages 16, 10, and 8. She is an avid
reader, enjoys playing with computers, music, hiking, and body art.
Maria Drury
was born in the Philippines and moved to the Unites States with her
family when she was 8 years old. She grew up in Southern California and
has lived in Arizona since 1995. Maria has been a nurse for 11 years
with the majority of her nursing career having been spent taking care
of pregnant women. She worked at Banner Desert Hospital for 2 years
taking care of high risk pregnancy women in the Antepartum Unit and
another 8 years working as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Chandler
Regional Hospital. Maria enjoyed working with laboring women and their
families so much that she pursued a career in midwifery. She received a
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Grand Canyon University and a Master’s
Degree at Frontier Nursing University in nurse-midwifery in 2011. Maria
has been married for 10 years and has 2 wonderful children; Kevin age 9
and Bella age 6. She currently lives in Chandler with her family and

Iowa after which she worked in L&D at Good Samaritan Hospital in
Phoenix. In 2003 she graduated from ASU with a Master of Science
in Nursing and Certification as a Women's Health Nurse
Practitioner. She has been working as a nurse practitioner since
graduation. She currently resides in Chandler with her sixteen
year old daughter. Her interests include traveling, triathlons,
and reading all types of fiction books.
Cyndi Ayoub
began her career in women's health in 2001. She
always knew that she would obtain her master's degree and become a
Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. She enjoys working with women
from different cultures and especially the Hispanic population here in
Arizona. Cyndi is an Arizona native and completed both her
bachelor's and master's degrees as ASU. She lives in Chandler
with her husband and two children, Ellie and Niko. She enjoys
hiking, scrapbooking and quilting. Cyndi is also an avid music
and animal lover. She feels her personal experiences as a women's
health patient drive her to provide the highest quality of
individualized healthcare to women and their families. We
are pleased to have a pleasant and capable staff Carolina, Shannon, and
Priscilla work in our front office. Khirstin, Lizette, and
